Giant Sequoia Tree
Have you seen the forest filled with HUGE TREES like in this picture?
This past weekend, I went to Sequoia National Park. Yes, I do, I love nature!
I can drive hours every weekend to be in the beautiful places. I love the clean air and energy there. I love feeling and witnessing how powerful these places are. I go to this national parks often, but I have not been to Sequoia National Park for a few years.
No matter how many times I see this forest of giant sequoia trees…. it is AMAZING!
So powerful, so beautiful, so energizing, so BIG, so inspiring!
Here is little about this park…
Sequoia National Park is located east of Fresno, California. The park is famous for its giant sequoia trees, including the General Sherman tree, one of the largest trees on Earth. Also the park is home to over 240 known caves that include California’s longest cave at over 20 miles (32 km), Lilburn Cave, and potentially hundreds more.
There are easy hiking trails so you can take your little children with you, or grandparents can go there too.
There are several ways to get there, but I recommend going from Fresno taking high way 180 toward east. This freeway takes straight to Sequoia National Park. I took smaller road coming through Visalia(I came from Los Angeles) and the road was very hard to drive since road was very curvy for loooooong time. So it may look shorter in the map, but it takes long time to drive through extremely curvy road. Freeway 180 from Fresno was much easier to drive for sure.
There are two sides of this park. So I recommend to check the park map from the website(http://www.nps.gov/seki/planyourvisit/maps.htm) ahead of time so you know what to plan. Summer time is probably better time to visit as winter it could get snowy. Also, there many bears in the area, so you need to be very careful not to leave food in your car, other wise, bear could break into your car. (You see these sign everywhere!)
If you have children with you, don’t forget to pick up “Junior Ranger” book from the visitor center. Your child can fill out the book and bring it by visitor center is closed, so they can get free ranger badge! Every national parks have this, it is fun activity for children.
You MUST see the amazing GIANT Sequoia Trees at least once in your life time. It is truly amazing and you will feel like you are in the fantasy world. Trees are so big it does not look real. I LOVE being in such a wonderful forest. Highly recommended if you are tired and stressed. Must visit if you love and enjoys nature!!
